SELMA THE ADORABLE SEMLA!

Purrrrrr……. My Mom’s busy doing her hair  and Herkules and Charlie are fast asleep in the sunshine so I am Queen of the Laptop right now!

And I landed HERE, Must see what Herk’s been up to lately!

WOW! I have just read his ‘ post about SEMLOR and I am ANGRY!

He  got the idea how to get at the cream from those cream buns from ME! Sneaky , sneakier, sneakiset, that’s Herk! He lies on the carpet pretending to sleep but all the  while he is busy STUDYING me. I suppose I should be flattered but I AM NOT!

BECAUSE

Herkules is just a copycat!

Also I would like to POINT  with my CLAWS  OUT  that this is why our MOM calls me her Adorable SELMA the SEMLA! Since I have the same colours as a Semla I blend in so well behind one that I am able to pinch quite a lot of cream until my MOM discovers what is going on:

Looking at this lovely picture of a Semla makes me looong for some lovely nice CREAM!

I am licking the screen but there is no taste! LAPTOPS suck! I honestly don’t know what ll the fuss is about since there is no taste, nor scent…

I am gonna go for Plan B instead…

Since it is the weekend I know that then our MOM often does quite a lot of baking so I will definately stick around the kitchen. I have my lovely cushions to lie on in the windowseat where I can comfortably watch all that happens around me. And I am safe from Herkules and Charlie there. They don’t often lie on pink candy striped cushions. I guess they think this is just for GURLS!

HERKULES IS AWAKE – and he has seen me on the lapotop!

SEMLOR/SWEDISH DOUBLE CREAM BUNS

HI MY FELINE FOLLOWERS!

I am covered in flour…so I am having a frew sneezes! Excuise e moiz!!!

You see…

I have been busy in the kitchen this morning making a litte treat for you all. You are all gonna LOVE it coz  it’s  a CREAMY  treat!!!!

May I present a SEMLA, MY FRIENDS!

It’s a kind of traditional Swedish fresh cream bun and I make the bun for the two-legged ones, and whip the cream for me and my brother and sister. This means all the more cream for us……

Anyways, in case you wanna give the SEMLA a try here is a real good recipe I got from a TV-chef!

INGREDIENTS:

Calculated for 14 servings

200 g of milk (2 cups)
300 g of wheat flour (5 ml)
25 g yeast
150 g flour (2 1/2 cup)
1 pc egg
2 g of salt (1/2 tsp)
5 g of cardamom (1 tbsp)
80 g butter
80 g powdered sugar (1 cup)
  
Almond Filling:
500 g almond paste
50 g ground almonds (1 cup)
50 g chopped almonds (1/2 cup)
5 g of cardamom (1 tbsp)
20 g vanilla sugar (2 1/2 tablespoons)
90 g powdered sugar (1 1/2 cup)
150 g of milk (1 1/2 cup)
1 liter of cream- no lickin!!!

HOW TO MAKE THE BUNS:

Heat the  milk until it’s  lukewarm. Then mix it with flour and yeast and run the mixture  in a food processor until the ingredients form a smooth dough. Then let the dough  rest for about 15 minutes.

Mix in the remaining ingredients in the food processor for  a minute on low speed, then a little faster for about 4 minutes until the ingredients are  well mixed. Divide the  dough into 14 equal pieces, about 60 g / pc. Make round  buns with your paws and place on a plate with parchment paper. Leave to  rise wrapped in a cloth until doubled in size for  about 1.5- 2 hours.
Bake in the oven at 250 degrees Celsius. Be sure to lower the temperature to 200 degrees as soon as you have placed the buns inside the oven. Bake the buns for about 8 minutes.

Almond Filling:

Mix all ingredients except the milk to a pulp, then add the milk a little at a time,and mix well until you have a nice almond filling. Cut out a triangle shape in the centre of each bun and fill it with the almond paste. Whip the cream with a whisk or your tail and put on top of the almond paste.Finally, put the triangle you have cut out from the bun on top and sprinkle with some icing sugar.

Phew! A lot of work for some cream you might think. But hey, the doughy stuff keeps the two-legged ones occupied so all that lovely cream is ours for the taking.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!

HOW TO GET THE CREAM:

You wait until the two-legged has placed a Semla on his or her plate and poured him or herself a drink of something hot, black and disgusting. Then you go down real low on the table behind the Semla and pretend you are just looking. Look adoringly at the bun, blink a few times and purr S L O W L Y ….The human will definately  find this cute  and feel flattered by your interest. Then you very slowly and carefully stick out the tip of your tongue and start licking off the cream from the side of the bun facing towards you…..MMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm….. S L I C I O U S !
